David Calhoun has been testing Mobile Safari in the first iOS 5 beta that was announced at WWDC yesterday.
It is interesting to match up what is being seen to developer wishlists that have been published.
It is great to see support for position:fixed and overflow:scroll, a pain point for many years. We don’t see inertia scrolling supported yet, but again, this is the first beta.
There are also a ton of new input’s (date, ranges, etc) which is great.
On JavaScript, we get support for Web Workers, as well as a ton of new support for ECMAScript 5.
A nice first step.
